Why living a Productive lifestyle is key in today’s Education

From mounting tests, assignments and CCAs to community involvement and external events; every child just gets busier as they climb the system and ascend into higher education.
Today’s education landscape, is one that calls for a greater, a more holistic approach. It is no wonder why the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) is constantly introducing new policies and guidelines for our children.
One of the aims of the I Am Gifted! school holiday programme, is to introduce alternative learning strategies and techniques to our students in hopes of helping them find a better, easier, more fun approach towards studying and learning in general. Especially in today’s hyper competitive education landscape, our child’s competition is no longer our neighbors or their classmates, their competition can come from anywhere around the world (and yes, globalization is real!). This is exactly why living a productive lifestyle is key, even more so if you are just a student growing up in this fast-paced ever changing 21st century.

Before we go further into benefits of the ideal productive lifestyle, it is detrimental that you read these two articles on the 3 Stages Of Procrastination Our Kids & Teens Go Through and The #1 Lesson On Procrastination Every Child Learns Too Late to get a clearer understanding of the context and why productivity is such a topic that is close to heart.
Top students don’t only have more focus, they have strategies!

Have you ever wondered why we were all given 24 hours a day, 7 days a week but there are always these top students that are constantly achieving more and simply getting more things done in the same amount of time? Yes, perhaps they might be more talented or maybe even slightly more academically inclined than most of us, but there has to be more to it.
That is why we need to recognize that these top students don’t only have more focus, but they also have a whole arsenal of productivity strategies behind their backs! Some of them gained these skills naturally through test & trial methods and others went to search on how they could become more productive through personal development books or finding a role model in their lives. Either way, the reason why these “smarter” students were able to juggle their CCA commitments and still do well is hugely not due to them being natural geniuses, but simply that they know the strategies to bring productive.
When we know how to become productive in what we do, we’re able to achieve much more in a shorter period of time.

I always detest the idea of how some people are just born geniuses and others are never destined to succeed. If it is possible for others, it is possible for me – it is only a matter of finding the right strategy.

The only regret that I have was the fact that I didn’t find this concept any sooner, causing me to have years of hard work being wasted. Don’t let it be your regret too.
